The laws of behaviour do not care which species is learning.

You apply them to dogs, horses, parrots and clients every working day. Then you try to build a habit in your own life, and the whole thing falls apart.

Why is an animal training academy running a running course? Because it is a behaviour course. For 13 weeks Emelie applies the science to you, and running is the behaviour you practise on.

It was never the running that stopped you.

You know what a good plan looks like. You have coached clients and their animals through behaviour plans that worked. You have probably started running before, or wanted to. Then a week or two in, the habit is gone.

“I’ve always said that I should learn to run, but it never sticks.”

What Emelie’s audience keeps telling her

When a client’s dog blows them off, you look at the plan. You check the criteria, the reinforcement, what happened right before. When you miss a week of running, none of that happens. You skip straight past the plan and decide the problem is you.

Is this you?

Treat yourself like you would your best learner.

Thirteen weeks of coaching on how to take what you already know about behaviour and apply it to your own running habit.

Running + Habits: 13 weeks to make it stick

Coaching from Emelie Johnson Vegh, a weekly task you can actually do, and a group working on the same thing at the same time.

What is included

It all runs inside the ATA membership. The course lives in the Animal Training Academy platform, so your $299 also includes full ATA membership through December 2026: the learning archive with 200+ lessons, the live monthly webinars, and the wider community of trainers.

What the 13 weeks cover

From finding time in a full calendar to working out what keeps the habit going long after the course ends. Here are the four phases.

Finding the time in a busy calendar to make this work at all, then setting a first step small enough that you will actually take it. You also map out which habits need to be in place for this to last.
How to make the running harder without asking too much too soon, and how to build rest in on purpose rather than treating it as a lapse. This is where most people pile on more until the whole thing breaks, so it gets four weeks.
The conference. The bug. The dark evenings. The phase no app teaches, and the reason the last three attempts ended. You work out what to do in the weeks the plan does not survive contact with your actual life.
What keeps it going when nobody is watching. Most programmes stop where the hard part starts. This one spends its last two weeks teaching you how to keep going on your own.

These phases adapt to the group in real time. If the group needs phase three two weeks in, that is what we cover.

Included

Not included

Emelie coaches habits, not running form.

She has run since 2009 and knows the sport well, and she is not a certified running coach. That is deliberate. What she teaches is how to build a habit that survives a real life, which is the part that has been missing every other time you tried.

A small group of people in the same boat

Not a running club. Fifteen animal training professionals who are good at building behaviour for everyone else and stuck on doing it for themselves. Nobody times you, and nobody is compared to anyone.

“Becoming a member of ATA has been the best thing I’ve done in ages. I have achieved training goals with my animals that I didn’t think possible.”

Animal Keeper

“I love everything about Animal Training Academy. It’s just such a good way to meet and connect with other trainers.”

Questions people ask

Those apps teach the running well. None of them has a plan for the week you get sick or life gets in the way. This course is built for exactly that, so the habit holds when things get tricky.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR CURRENT MEMBERS:

  • DO NOT purchase on the public checkout page ($299). That public price has 13 weeks of membership bundled into it.
  • Because you already have an active ATA membership, please email us privately first before you buy anything!
  • Your individual discount will depend on what monthly price you are currently paying for your membership. Email us at [email protected]
  • Not after a coached spot? All active members can audit the whole course free: the live kickoff (Thu 10 Sep), the live wrap up (Tue 8 Dec), and view access to the course forum.

You are not compared to anyone. Everyone works at their own running level, and the point is the habit rather than the pace.

Plan for about 30 minutes, three times a week, for the running itself, plus a little extra if you want to be active in the group discussion.

Your $299 includes full ATA membership through December 2026. After that, your account rolls over to the standard $43 a month membership so staying in the community is seamless. If you do not want to continue, you can cancel the rollover with one click in your profile at any point during the course, and you still keep full access to the course and your membership until the final day.

It will, and that is planned for. It is a big part of what the course teaches. Life gets in the way for everyone, and how you handle those weeks is what decides whether the habit lasts.

The cohort needs 8 people to work properly as a group. If we do not get there, we will contact you before the start date and sort it out with you directly.

Enrolment closes and we get ready to start. If you miss this cohort we may run another one in future. We limit it to 15 so everyone gets proper feedback and Emelie can get around everybody.

Because it is a behaviour course. You apply this science to animal learners all day. For 13 weeks Emelie applies it to you, and running is the behaviour you practise on. What you build here transfers to any habit you take on next.

You already know how to do this. You are just not applying it to yourself.

Thirteen weeks. Fifteen seats. One coach who teaches every species, including yours.
